Storytelling is a natural and very powerful teaching tool for all ages. In the classroom, storytelling motivates students to read by bringing stories to life. My school storytelling programs are based on books as well as stories told in the oral tradition. Storytelling reinforces reading comprehension skills as well as fluency, history, multicultural awareness, critical thinking skills, and vocabulary building.
School programs are typically held in your media center, auditorium, or individual classroom.
Programs are designed to be grade level appropriate and run approximately 30 minutes long.
Thinking of starting a storytelling club in your school? Storytelling is a great way to build confidence and public speaking skills in your students. A student storytelling festival can be a wonderful fundraising event and motivates families to bring storytelling home!
